CKM Back to Grassroots Racing in 2018
Wednesday, September 5th, 2018
After being absent from the racing word from the early part of the 2017 racing season, Clint and the CKM racing team are back on track for the remainder of the 2018 season with a more grass-roots approach. With the ever-rising expense of motorsports, after making several starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with BJ McLeod Motorsports in 2016 & 2017, lack of financial support forced King to once again take a step back from racing in order to regroup in a new direction. During this time, Clint and several members of his racing organization focused all of their attention to their full-time employment at Warehouse Design, Inc. King himself is a Systems Sales Engineer specializing in designing and providing storage systems and material handling equipment for todays modern-day distribution centers and warehouse facilities. While this has taken most of King’s time due to a rise in the success of this industry, he wanted to get back to the track and stay relevant in the racing world. “We had pretty much sold all of our racing equipment from years passed. All our K&N stuff and our late models were sold when we were trying to go Xfinity racing. I had just bought a new shop and a house and all we had left was our super truck we ran back in 2009 and a set of tools and basic racing equipment. I thought about it for a while and realized that if we wanted to have some fun and do it ourselves out of my new shop, the super truck is an attainable goal to get us on track in 2018”, stated King. Once the decision was made, King and the CKM team began to update and prepare the old-school late model super truck that had been sitting idle for almost 10 years. King and the team plan to compete in the South East Super Truck Series for the remainder of the year while working to finalize plans for the 2019 season.
