“After Solid Debut, Driver Focused On
Continuing Supply Chain Job Awareness Campaign”
CONCORD, North Carolina — Only four weeks after making his NASCAR XFINITY Series debut, Clint King has been given another opportunity to prove why he belongs in one of the sport’s top-three national series.
King will make his Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway debut in Friday night’s Drive for the Cure 300 aboard the No. 15 B.J. McLeod Motorsports Ford Mustang on Oct. 7.
His recent performance at Richmond International Speedway was referred to as “exceeding expectations” and NASCAR wasted no time in granting him approval to compete on larger tracks.
“I am very thankful to NASCAR for expediting my approval to compete at Charlotte,” said King. “I knew I had a lot to prove in my first XFINITY race at Richmond and now I am being given an opportunity to race at one of the coolest places in motorsports. This approval is a huge step towards our process of bringing our Supply Chain awareness campaign to NASCAR. Our plan is really coming together.”
Every driver that has competed on the quarter mile infield track at Charlotte Motor Speedway as a kid has dreams of someday circling the 1.5-mile oval.
“Finally getting a chance to run the mile and a half at Charlotte is such a cool deal for me,” added King.
Being a native of North Carolina and nestled only 45 minutes from the 1.5-mile, King considers Charlotte his hometown track. Of course with that element comes some pressure to perform.
“I expect to have a big number of my longtime fans, friends, and even a few of my customers from the supply chain industry in the stands cheering me on and most likely the biggest fan following on television that I have ever had,” he said. I am very proud to represent my state of North Carolina this Friday night. Racing in front of the hometown crowd is always a blessing and a lot of fun. I don’t plan to let my team down.”
But this event isn’t just about the race, there’s a bigger picture, his Supply Chain Awareness campaign now trademarked as “Speed – Precision – Supply Chain ™.”
“We’ve got a real problem, the supply chain is growing faster than the flow of trained workers and by 2018 we are going to experience well over a 1.5 million job deficit at the rate we are on now,” informed King.
His campaign utilizing NASCAR marketing as an awareness platform provides more exposure than any other medium available.
J&L Wire was King’s inaugural supporter at Richmond and now with additional support from Warehouse Design, Inc., there’s now added support to continue to reach his platform. Outside of the cockpit, King regularly speaks at high schools and colleges about his “day job” in the supply chain industry and encourages students to consider a similar path that can lead to a very rewarding career.
King and B.J. McLeod Motorsports are excited to have 20 VIP guests in attendance representing seven different companies involved in the Supply Chain Industry. The guests will enjoy VIP treatment as they watch the race from one of Charlotte Motor Speedways luxury suites overlooking the frontstretch. Additionally, they will also enjoy exclusive garage passes taking them right into the action.
Following Charlotte, King hopes to gain additional support to his cause and the need to add more partners to continue his awareness campaign. Before the season ends, King is hopeful for a start at Texas Motor Speedway, a similar facility to Charlotte – also a major Supply Chain Industry hub.
