in Jacksonville, NC in the PASS Truck Series and unlike that win where he had to make some great moves, all King had to do was keep his truck in front of the tough field.
That task proved a lot more difficult than you would have thought as the young driver, who qualified second, but due to a mandatory redraw started on the pole, had his hands full keeping his Warehouse Designs Chevrolet Truck out in front of the field. However, despite strong challenges from track points leader, Destry Gardner from lap 10 until the checkered flag flew at lap 35, King remained out in front.
"I put pressure on him(King) the entire race, but he never messed up," said Gardner of his challenges on King.
King was just excited to be able to keep his truck out in front of one of the tracks best drivers and happy to take home another win.
"Racing here is tough; You've got to run on used tires and all of these guys have a lot of experience on this track," said King. "Racing these trucks is tough, no matter where you go and for us to get a win down here against these guys feels good. Holding off Destry(Gardner) there for the win was cool, he ran us clean and I appreciate that."
This was King's second win and his 8th top five finish in only 11 starts this season and King is hoping to carry that momentum into the next PASS Truck Series race, which is up next on his schedule at Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 29th.
